Visit to Parklands Library

On Wednesday Room16 visited the Parklands Library.  We were read a story about how Paua got his colourful shell from Tangaroa.  Then we had some time to look around the excellent range of books that the Library has to offer.

After a little while the wonderful librarians Jenna and Sam worked with our students to make porotiti, a traditional maori string instrument.  Made from a cardboard circle with two holes in it and string, the students decorated them with felts using traditional maori symbol stencils.

We had lots of fun spinning them on our walk back to school.  A huge thanks to the friendly staff at the Parklands Library.
