Whats Been Happening in Room16

2016 has started extremely well in Room16.  We have 28 students who have all shown themselves to be very capable in different areas and each have become an important part of our class.  We have been establishing routines and processes in our classroom and getting to know one another to form positive relationships that will help us in our learning.

We have loved the physical activities that we have been able to enjoy so far this term with the fantastic crew from YouthTown sport, Sachi teaching us Kio Rahi, our first swimming sports for 5 years, SNAG golf sessions and our regular fitness activities.

Our Inquiry for the Term is all about our Wellbeing and how we can make a positive difference in our school.  We have learned about Hauora, a Maori philosophy for health unique to New Zealand.  It comprises taha tinana, (Physical Wellbeing) taha hinengaro, (mental and emotional wellbeing) taha whanau, (Social wellbeing)  and taha wairua (Spiritual wellbeing).  Without each of these four walls being strong, our Wellbeing/Hauora whare would not be strong.  We created models of whares to show this.

We have also been getting to know our Buddy-Class, Room 3 and have enjoyed working (and playing) with the younger students.
